I never thought of doing that .... the inner cavity is fairly large so the first top-up would consume a lot of grease, but after that...

IIRC there is a slightly modified design to the R/R but it is only that the charging voltage is slightly higher ... it is still the "shunt" design which does run the stator at 100% of possible output...
