Not 100% true. I assume you're talking about the CAN bus charger. Yes, if you want to use the BMW supplied port, then you need the expensive charger. You can simply add the old fashioned inline...

Cannister on 2012 with ESA under tank

I just got a new 2012 Triple Black Adventure on Saturday. Traded the 2002 1150GS and my 1999 KLT. So, I've been reading posts for hours on end. All this CAN bus stuff is new to me. I am amazed...

That's exactly what I do. And when I use my Aerostich tank panniers, I rest my legs ON TOP of them!

Go Gerbings.

My take on heated vests is don't get one. Get a Gerbings heated "jacket liner" NON insulated. It heats your arms too, and I've found that when I want my torso heated, I like my arms heated too. ...

Knees DO hurt

Yeah. That's why with 7 bikes my 1150 Adv is the most comfortable. I can stretch out on the crash bars. Let me tell you about how much my knees and thighs hurt after a long day of sitting/standing...

Got bent rims?

I don't know how to do one of those "polls", but I was just wondering how many of us have experienced bent rims. I was on my first "real" dirt ride on Sunday (Mosquito Pass in the snow) and though I...

NOW you tell me.....

OK. GA to AK and back. I will have to agree with Frank then. You can get a lot of stuff on the road (even from dealers). I'd bring the "normal" stuff. Cables, bulbs, fuses. You can get...

Trip to where?

I had a COMPLETELY different answer to this until my dinner was ready and I started to actually THINK about it. This is next to impossible to answer without knowing where you're going. I'm guessing...

Nice Report

Good job Dave. I never took a single picutre, my hands were too damned cold! (Wimp, I know.) If only this state would allow lane splitting, I'd have been north on I25 a bit earlier. BTW, this was...

We tried Mosquito yesterday

I believe this picture is from Mosquito Pass. Yesterday, 8 of us attempted an assault. We got ALMOST to the top. 3 of us bailed out just before where this picture was taken.

They exist in "plastic"

Cycle Gadgets make some spacers I bought at the Red River BMWRA National Rally. Pretty much plastic (or something like that - could be nylon, I don't know). They raise the front of the seat up just...

Yes.

I did too. I bought longer (TOO LONG!) bolts from the dealer. Cut them, ran them through the right die, and just put them on this morning.

Elite Motorsports

Loveland CO. He's got one sitting at the shop as of Tues or Wed. He won't rake you over the coals, but he gets pretty much list price.

Seems you like the TKCs. I do too. But I essentially had to cut my trip short because the rear wears out so fast on me. I don't know that I'm any harder on them than others. I'll do in the mid...

You've GOT to be kidding. I can understand lowering pressure for rocky roads, but 25 on the street? The "rule of thumb" is 10% increase in pressure from cold to hot. 39-40 cold usually will yield...

Plastic and Metal?

Kinda silly to quote myself, but I'm thinking the "m" in the former is for "metal", whereas the "p" in the second is "plastic". I bet the cycoactive guys would know.

I've had 3 GSPs. Started out with a Garmin 12xl years ago, then a GPS 3+ and now a 176C. I like the 176C very much. As Jim Robinson says (treknow.com) one of the nice things about the 176C is...
