i guess you have two obvious options, but they both depend on how much the clearence is.

1) lathe the fork leg down
2) mill the clamp hole up

I've ridden from glasgow to venice (2000km) non-stop and back three times on 1150gs with adventure seat, and not a single muscle ached. Very sleepy though for the last 300km.
