My wife picked up a new 2015 TU250x a couple weeks back. It's her first bike - she coincidentally rode one during her licensing course as well. I drove it home for her, and admit it's a fun little...

Does it really need a bigger engine? I would expect ABS in the next version, but I hope the weight doesn't go up significantly.

A KTM rep at IMS today told me there'd be a 2016 version too, but he didn't know beyond that. Could have been an guess on his part, but he didn't make it sound as such.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, everyone. I do feel it would be _ideal_ to have a really light dirt-bike to slowly work on off-road skills, but as I mentioned earlier, I don't have a way...

I don't have any way to transport a dirt bike if I can't drive it from home. Would need to buy a truck/trailer first, unfortunately.

I bought the 1200GS in 2004, and replaced it with the anniversary model 800GS in 2010. The _only_ time I miss the 1200GS is when I'm on the highway for long hauls, and that's very infrequent. Most...

While BMW's 1200GS may be too much bike for you, have you looked into their smaller GS bikes, like the F800GS or 650GS?

That's my only complaint with the Micatech system. I get wanting to maximize space, but the bags sit so far out compared to the Jesse bags. If they sat closer in, the decision would be a no-brainer.

@Bucko - Yes, my 1200GS uses servo-assist for the brakes. In my situation, it's not just comparing a 1200 with the 800, but specifically, the first-gen 1200 with the 800. Maybe this doesn't matter...
