I'm sure it is just that the bridge will no longer hold a pickup loaded with firewood and a family of 7, so they fixed the problem to be safe, by closing it .

XR650L and tearing up rear tires?

My guess is I'm safe as my XR650L is really a staid old man's bike and you need to work to find any torque to speak of. Perhaps I need to do some tuning work on it too, as it is relatively stock...

Not so bad

Just drink a lot of fluids to hold shape and avoid becoming a pizza. Last summer June was not too bad. First 100 degree day was not until July. Nice riding there too.
