I doubt that is wasn't torqued properly, the bike has 18,000 miles on it. I would think that improper torque would manifest itself early on.

Just to offer one more data point, I find the stock seat reasonably comfortable for 1,000 mile days. It's not perfect, but it's better than my K1600GTL stock seat was!

The clamp did not fail. They (and I) believe that a "backfire" of some sort caused it, but they don't know why it backfired.
Hopefully it never happens again. If it does, I know what to look for...

Anyone had their intake manifold "pop" off of the cylinder? Mine did on Friday, sounded like the engine was going to blow up.

I'd suspect that it's a rear suspension issue, based on your weight, versus wheel flex.
I'd rule that out before throwing money at wheels.
