The 690 should have enough spare amps to run a GPS without issues. I added a good quality volt meter beside the speedometer so I can monitor voltage when I run accessories. I never see below 14v...

Yep, I throw a 1 gal. oil jug full of gas in my backpack when I need more than 150 mile range. That will put me in the 200 mile range. No where in my area that you need more than 200 mile range.
