Rattle / Tapping on Start-up

Today I rode the 990 I just bought to work. I stopped for gas on the way. When I restarted the bike, it briefly made a tapping / rattling noise.

Is this normal for these bikes as the build oil...

I warmed it up and checked it on the centerstand, screwing the dipstick all the way down. There was just barely some oil on the dipstick. I topped it off per the operator manual. Will change it...

990 noob

I just picked up my "new to me" 2011 990. I desperately need help properly checking the oil. I checked it on side stand and balanced on verticle and the oild wasn't on the dipstick either threaded...

Left over 2012 990 Adventure

Looking at a new, left over 2012 990 Adventure. Who has bought a left over recently and what did you pay for it? I think the fact that the new 1190 came out would drive it lower than if it were a...

We are going for 6 nights. Maybe you guys are right about renting the scooters in Cozumel. That sounds fun, and should get me my fix.

Cancun Bike Rental

My wife and I are planning on going to Cancun in April. I would love to rent a bike and explore the area for a couple days, two-up with my wife. Has anyone done this? Recommendations on places to...

Wr250

Given your experience and size I'd go with a WR250. Anything more is only going to get you in trouble. A 450 is going to be too much power, and a 650 is going to give up too much weight for only a...

Honda

If you had a larger frame, I'd say go with a DR or XR 650 used. But given your frame size I'd go with the Honda 250 for the reliability. Note that I currently, own a KLR 650 and a GasGas 300 but...

What if no problems

Your poll is biased towards everyone having a problem. What if you added KLR owners who have had no issues and DR owners who have had no issues and people who have had other issues.

This would be...

I would look for a KTM or GasGas 300 2 stroke. A top end rebuild is nothing, not much harder than checking the valves on a 4-stroke and adjusting the valves would be harder. It you buy a used 4...

Have you considered the Buell Ulysses?

Basically the same engine as the 1200 Sportser with more technology applied. Very reliable, and made in the USA.
