Lyle, i installed SW Motech crash bars and barkbuster Storm hand guards. So far I like them both. The Storm is meant for road, while you still get the barkbusters backbone.

I have moved bikes in small trucks with the rear tire on the tailgate lots, and ever had any problems whatsoever. Took a CBR600 in a GMC Sonoma from NS to MB and didnt even think twice about it.
