What's the best wind stopping things for a 1200 GS

I an considering a 2007 1200 GS BMW and was wondering what would be the best wind stopping windshield for a guy like me at 5'10"?
I am also interested to know if there are any other wind stopping...

Heated grips only work on high setting. Fix?

This is factory BMW heated grips on a 2004 R1150r.
I can get it to work on the high setting (real hot) but the lower setting does not work.
Is there an easy fix for this?

I have a tender for the winter. I don't think oil viscosity is my problem at 70 degrees in New England now but it is a thought for the colder season coming.
Maybe it supposed to start like the sound...

Not like my other Triumph or jap bikes that spin right up.
Is this normal for the boxer engine to sound like this...
