I really enjoyed my ST1300 for my trips around Wyoming, Colorado and Montana. The one thing the ST excels at is fuel capacity / range. I would regularly get 48mpg on it and the thing holds 7.7...

My bike only holds two quarts so what I do is pour in one quart of Rotella Dino oil and one quart of Synthetic bike oil. That way I am covered no matter what conditions I am riding in. :deal

I'm a big fan of the DR650 and have used mine for mountain riding (nothing super technical yet) as well as 1700 miles in four days of mostly pavement. I think it's a great all around bike.
