The porting could be part of the reason. Pro-flow used to put a number on the cylinders usually on the flats facing the inside...

I pocket mill a cavity for the dowel to sit in. I tram the center of the bowel and the cylinder the way the center lines are exact to each other and of the sleeve is what aligns it to the cases.

You can make your exhaust flange longer (maybe an inch) will move the powerband up to a higher RPM and but hit a harder.

On one of my bikes my longer tuned put me on the pipe at 6500 rpm's...

Yes that is what takes a little time getting the location for that bracket to get your pre-load and sag set, but it can be done.

I have wanted to do that to one of mine just dont trust my own...
