It helps with parallel parking. You pull up beside the spot you wish to park in. Get out and walk to the front, then lift the car by that shackle and walk it back into the spot. Much easier to do it...

Actually it is only 500 miles if you go in a straight line. See, in Texas you can ride 800 miles in a straight line. You don't have to curve around in a big arc to make 800 miles within the state.
