Coincidence, so as an example I also have a 1980 R100RT with approximately 135K on the clock and it burns about a qt every 3,000 miles depending on how I ride.

I am now quite curious about...

Yea I dont quite get the "slowing down at 57" answer.

At 58 my plan is to be on 2 wheels even more than I am now and that includes the PD (Or maybe on the RT a bit more).

Acerbis & Touratechs

I used these for a while with my throttle lock just fine. I now have a set of Touratechs that are much better for rain, bug (wasp) and overall protection.

The Acerbis you can buy on ebay often...

That BMW box is perfect to me. I have the aftermarket box-end that goes on a torque wrench but even that is difficult to be so accurate because you are actually adding length to the torque wrench...
