Had the same sort of issue with my challenge....

Had the same sort of issue with my challenge. Idle actuator cleaning made it better. New battery and plugs made it awesome. No issues since those changes.

I have owned both bikes. The bigger wheel is way better off road. I commute 40 miles one way to work on the Xchallenge. I don't even notice the bigger wheel on pavement. I'd say if that is the issue...

Yup. Put it on right and used OEM parts, except chain. My splines are not showing wear but there is definitely room for it to move.

I'll have to get some new sprockets. And hope for the best.

I mean side to side as you directly face the sprocket, not front to back....
