I would try to keep as much of the items turned off at idle until you are ready to ride because the stators won't keep up with the draw at idle. Just a thought

Has your wife ridden your XRL? I think It would compare to it as of size but being a bit lighter

The XR is probably one of the most reliable and fun bikes in the dirt. One of the easiest one to kick start but My suggestion since you have hip issues is to look for something with electric start.

I ran a 6.3 on my xr650r and it felt like a pig when the tank was full.
I would always fill to 1/2 when not on a road trip but it was still a bulky...

Wheeled with a guy once that had a cooler full of MGD in the bottles. about half of his case didn't make the destination :eek1
