The slender loop should be threaded between the fork and plastic guard. Push on the plastic guard a little while you thread it through. It'll pass easier.

Doubt it's a leak. You would have oil all over. Not sure why you need loctite on the counter shaft nut.... There should be a splined washer behind the nut that you bend into the flat spot on the nut.

Just changed my chain and sprockets. 6k miles on originals. Interestingly the rear was shot but the front was good. That's a first for a dirt bike for me.
