If the switch is indeed faulty you cannot just bypass it. There is a resistor built into the switch that the computer looks for to make it harder to steal.

Unplug the ignition switch and check for continuity with the key on and see if it matches diagram. R-O-O/Y and GR-BR should have continuity when the key is on. If not then the switch is bad.
