Nah, change it all. The oil pump is self-priming... it won't cavitate.

There used to be a how-to video on YouTube for changing an XR400's oil, where the guy simply didn't know about the crankcase...

That happened with the new bars / risers setup I did last year. The engine died every time I made a hard left. Turns out the de-comp cable was a bit short. A re-route fixed it.
