Can't comment on the XL...but I was at the larger side of comfortable in an RF1000 medium...picked up the Qwest in a Large and it fits perfectly. The medium was pretty dang tight, a little tighter...

I'm in the unfortunate position of being between a medium and a large. My previous helmet was a RF-1000, which I wore in a medium. It was tight, but only became "uncomfortable" after a couple hours...
