Picked up a couple of clips from the Hardware store at lunch. 7/8" seems to be about right. The pin holes are even smaller than the one I pulled off. Hope I don't loss my front CS on the way home.

Makes sense. The thinner the rubber the more heat. The waffles weren't bad. The space between the ribs were pretty thin. And the waffels created heat trapping pockets.
