One little trick. Cut a empty plastic 1qt bottle in order to make a funnel for the gearbox oil to drain out without touching the exhaust pipe. Otherwise you will make a mess changing the oil.

I doubt there will be a generation change next year. Product life cycle for BMW is at least 7 years. Current gereation came out in March 04. The new generation probably will come out in '11 or '12....
