I just put a magnet to my pivot pins on my '94 GS and they are both magnetic. So in my humble opinion, I would say they were steel.... Hydraulicing in the greasing end of things is a no go with me....

I had BB in my old Triumph T100. The PO had put it in and used the wrong coil set-up. It still worked. I put the correct ones in and there were no issues. I would not hesitate to use this system.
