+1 on the short, you most likely have a direct short in the wiring, I would look for the ground side wiring first.

I would pour a can (1 pint) of straight Seafoam into the tank. (Drain the gas) Try to start so it get into the injectors, then let it set overnight. I should loosen the crud up within a day or two....

On the older R1150's and R1100's the coils tend to crack and let in moisture, symptoms are as you describe. I'd check that after looking at all other items that don't require you to pull the tank.

Make sure that you didn't dislodge the R throttle cable. Make sure it still fits in the little wheel on the throttle body and that the cable is seated in the adjuster nut collar.
