That sort of mileage I would not be thinking of a single cylinder bike. Kawasaki Versy sounds like what you need. Reliable, Cheap, Comfortable ( few basic weaks first),and more than capable.

Valves should be checked at 12K, slight tapping noise tends to signify slack clearances, problem is when you get tight clearances (no noise) valve seats start to burn, compression goes, ..............
