I have used both 3923s and 3922s in my 1150. The 22s run about 75F cooler according to Autolite. The 22s were used in my 1150 in the Houston Texas summer heat. Had only a mild effect on detonation....

If the fuel injectors are dirty, they may not...

If the fuel injectors are dirty, they may not seal drip tight at engine shut off and thereby leak some raw fuel into the intake which shows up at the next start.

I would pull an injector and test....
