Just sold my 1200gs 05 year to get a family car. But if/when I have the spare cash I would buy a newer version, but by the time this happens hopefully all the niggles maybe more or less sorted.

are you referring to the unit itself or the socket holder for the lead? The deluxe fitting kit is the socket holder for the lead from the unit which the helmet lead plugs into.

It's the only place that says synth isn't doing what SAE rating...

I currently use halfords own 10w-40 part synth oil but with summers getting warmer the bike drinks it more on long runs.
1300miles 0.5litres commuting...

you can put chain oil around the pivot and it will soak in as part of the service schedule . try and see if it makes it easier, rather than taking it all apart to grease it..
