Right, you just pry out the driveshaft, or use a slide hammer. It comes out easily 95% of the time. Reinstall is tapping it back with a rubber mallet.

It is the upper rubber that can be a pain....

As you may have figured out by now, the 2mm grub screw locks the spoke tensioning screw in place. You need to loosen the grub screw before attempting to tighten the adjuster screw.

Sounds like a final drive bearing or Drive Shaft U-joint. Check for play in your FD. It should be no more than 1mm at the rim. Check with the rear brake applied and not applied.

It is commonly referred to as "Shit Brown Pipes" and is a product of single wall stainless steel. Even the new bikes have that. Chrome is nice, but only delays the SBP issue.
