You're both right. He had cancer and I don't believe he knew of it. He became too ill for it after two rides.

Or- he knew he didn't have long and wanted to get a bike and ride. Can't verify.

Missed the cheap bike challenge by $100

but, I thought $1600 for an EVO Sportster with 6.7 original miles was fair considering the potential problems with a bike that had been sitting exactly 20 years. I'm sure someone could've went lower...

We've been in touch with this gentleman, but it's a "1978 motor" but can't be a 900 because there wasn't a 900cc in '78.

Has to be an 80 or 100 if the year's correct.

Might have to pass on...

An S motor will be rarer & likely more expensive than a 90 motor, so I guess he'll pull the trigger on whichever one comes in the right condition & price. Thanks for the info.

Bike was originally an R90

He wants a 90S motor for it.

We thought about a 100, but he's less concerned with top end, wants a mill that's faster off the line.

Always liked Dunlop K series tires. I don't know. The '70 R/75 isn't a particularly quick bike as it is as far as I know, I think older style tires would just be proper.

Good deal on period-looking tires for '70 R75/5?

I'll keep those things in mind. Don't like the bit about lethal handling.

You're likely correct about the mileage, but for $500, not bad for the first Norton in the garage.
