Help! Cagiva GC Fuel fitting extraction woes

So... about 2 weeks ago, one of the plastic quick disconnect fittings @ the tank on my GC started leaking.

No biggie, says I, I remember reading about steel replacements available... so I drained...

The GC's swing arm is flat on the back, whereas the ST2 has about a 40ish degree rake at the back.
