12 GPS full tests per "battery life" seems easy enough to re-set...logically, I think it is possible to re-set the 12-count GPS self tests if you replace the battery pack or just unplug it & plug it...

I've seen guys use the tube rubber replacement grips from cricket or baseball bats on the grips. Try get some from your local sports store and just roll it onto your grips. Should work fine.

As you've discovered, that bad soldering join on the wires into the heated pad seems to be the problem most of the time.

Thanks a lot Joel, I just removed the grip and had a look at it. Looks like my grip has the element molded into the rubber, so I will have to cut the whole lot open to try and see what is happening....
