Thanks for the info. I did cut the filter to see, and it was clean. My yamaha 4 stroke does the chain slap thing much worse than the klx, so I'm used to that.... I guess all of the tranny problems...

Recreational rider.

Riding, for me, clears my head, reduces stress, and seems to make me a happier person. I ride mainly for recreation, unfortunately I carry too much stuff back and forth to work to ride the bike........

I've had mixed luck with some paint strippers, you can get "aircraft stripper" at most auto parts stores, and it seems to work better than most on the more difficult to remove finishes.
