I doubt their absence will make your bike explode, but you should probably try to re-install. The clip is for a wire on either the engine or transmission (Gear Pos., Oil Temp, Oxyg., SS switch, etc)....

Final Drive Full of Salt Water

Bike (95 R1100GS) was in garage that flooded w. salt water.

Drained Final Drive and Transmission. Tranny Oil was good (no water). FD oil, was 95% water.

I cleaned the outside w. diluted...
