Swing arms and drive shaft are the same post '81 except for the shock mount. Just make sure the welder knows his stuff since a failure down there doesn't have a pretty result at speed.

Pull the tank and check connections at the coil...also do the disconnect/reconnect with the ignition module while you're there....

An engine or tranny swap is usually a one day job. Just did a tranny and rear main and got it...
