The suspension is better on the bmw? When the shocks blew out on my gsadv at less than 5000 miles they would not warranty them because I used the bike off road, another "grey" area in beemer schpeak...

I have the Yamaha accessory skid plate on my bike and it fits and works just fine, I don't do any rock crawling though.

I'd go with the helmet mount, your whole body acts as a shock absorber/stabilizer plus the camera gets aimed at what you look at. I've used this set up with great results,

I have a 2009 Roadglide with a Cee Baileys euro style screen, I'm 6' and turbulence is now non existent. I believe I bought the 17" lipped model those low ones arent worth shit.

Do yourself a favor and take a look at the Honda XR650L, It's a bulletproof design and half the cost of a bmw. I too drank the bavarian water, and pissed it out pretty quick.
