I change my oil every 4-6 hours and each time I change my filter, I inspect it. It has never looked bad or has had any junk in it in the 150+ hours I've run the bike. I do run rotella 15w-40.

Haven't noticed any change in mileage. If there is, it's negligible.
I'm thinking I'll get it with the filter. If it's not, then it will start to get expensive trouble shooting.
