Grind a radius in the tip of a magnetic screwdriver to match the C-clip.
Attach clip to the end of the screwdriver and just push it in. No big deal.

No matter where the brake shoes come from, they need to be arced to fit the drum unless you want to wait years for them to bed in. Pulsating means that the drums need to be trued up on a lathe.
