Question Aerostich Combat Lite boots - Hole in liner

I've had my Aerostich Combat Lite boots for just under 2 years now. I just noticed last week that the buckle strap has worn holes in the gortex liner. The holes go completly through the thin liner....

No armor (just the standard knee/shoulder/elbow pads). With some careful folding it fits in standard case. It's over 10 years old and pretty beat up, so that probably helps.
