I found the 17/38 was too steep at any kind of elevation. 17/42 is the sweet spot in my opinion, and you can throw on a 15 for the dirt with the same chain.

Back in 2002, the Cassier was 50 paved, 50 unpaved. It was down to about 30% unpaved last year. I bet by 2006 most of it is paved. A shame.

I have gotten 3000 miles from the rear Maxxis tire, more for the front, on a KTM 640, mixed riding. I think you would get more on the DR.
