You've been spoiled by the Spyder...

And the crudeness of a Harley sidecar would be a real let down! I'd stick with the Spyder and replace the tug if you need, Motorvation should be able to supply whatever mounting bits you need.

My 6 x 12 is designed for electric brakes and I want to add them. Haven't seen any electric brakes for smaller trailers like my 4 x 8. Brakes on a light trailer may be a mixed blessing, sort of like...

Try a Jeep or Harley forum...

The 'hack is supposed to pull the trailer, not ride on it.

Commuter boy, sorry to hear of your experience with the Ninjette. As for 3rd party warranties, no way- the insurance company has no motivation to keep you happy so you'll buy another bike from the...

My other two airheads have been dead reliable...

Seems like BMW had a lot of quality problems for a few years after the wall fell. My other airheads are 1983 and 1984 miles.

I'm becoming suspicious of the (new) battery...

Charged it up good, showed 12.8 volts no load. Started up and was giving 13.5 volts charge @ 3000 RPM right away. After a couple more starts was back to 13 volts max @ 4000 RPM. I'm beginning to...

Way to rich for my blood-

And Kurt, Diana AKA gearheadgrrrl here- do you still need the late airhead rocker bearings? I found some.

Nearest particpating dealer to me is 150 miles away, but I live in the country, 70 miles from the nearest Kawi dealer. They called me back promptly and I said I might be interested in a KLR650. They...

I get more than a little nervous about "arcing" when there's semiconductors around, so I won't try that... Last I remember "arcing" was with a generator on a really old car! I think I'll charge the...

Airhead: Low Charge After Storage?

The patient is a '92 R100GS that I finally put back together after being apart since 2008. It fired right up and the tranny I messed with seems to shift OK, but I'm not getting a healthy charge. I...

"Chopper" no, standard or cruiser, yes.

IIRC, the XS650 started as a standard and then morphed into a cruiser, and in '79 I believe both configurations are offered. If anybody's got the jones for this bike, it's in Reeder, ND. That's on US...

Unless the parts are almost free...

I'd leave it alone. Going from 3.20 to 3.36 is only a 5% increase, probably not worth the bother. The big pistons will give a bit more power, but if you use that power for long it'll just run hotter...

The F800S Is Gettin' Hack'd!

Got a chance to show it to local (only 85 miles away!) sidecar wrangler and machinist Lee Bruns the other day and he thinks he can do it. I'm game- heck, even with a hack it should still do 40 MPG!...

The serial number suggests a YZ, but the seat height seems low- I'm 5-8 and can flat foot it. Then again, the suspension is pretty well sacked.

Barn Find: mid 70s Yamaha YZ250 for $25!

It'd been a long day at the auction. The bill promised a '63 Corvair, '73 VW, Honda MB5, and a "Yamaha 250". I'd gotten up at 4:30 am, and driven 200 miles, the last half dozen down a bad dirt road....

I will concede that somewhere, somehow, an aircooled Harley may have flirted with the hundred horse mark. And it probably was a Sporty rather than a Big Twin.

But these are aircooled engines. My...
