Actually, they allow you to grip the tank with your knees while cornering. Not a huge deal on a V7, but they inspire confidence on a sport bike with a wide tank. It's nice to not have your knees...

I sat on one at a bike show today. Tiny. About the same size as a Ducati Scrambler (which I also sat on). If you are 5'7" or less, you're good. I'm 6'2" and definitely don't fit.

What it really needs are lower gears. Guzzi's (including the V7) have looong legs. Unless you can change the gear ratio in the final drive, it's a waste of time.

You get more usable travel if you get rid of progressive springs as well. The bike, like so many these days, is under sprung and over damped. Especially the forks.

Nice idea, but a see a problem. Without a cantilever/pantilever (sp) rear end, that thing will be jacking all over the place. Twin disks up front would be welcome on a standard V7.
