My '13 GSW only has 8,500 miles and the longest trip was only 3,600 miles but so far no complaints. The transmission does clunk but I wear earplugs and besides it is a wet clutch.

Get an '11, '12 or 13 GS or GSA. Pretty much all kinks were worked out by then and the final drives were vented. I think some of the later '10 models also had vents.
