I had the same problem with my low hour '06 450 EXC. I had to pull the fork apart to free up the rebound adjustment needle.

An o ring chain will outlast non o ring by a lot. Probably 3 to 1, or so. Plus the non o ring will require a lot more adjustments. Especially if you're riding in mud, sand or just doing longer rides....
