Try 80/90 gear oil it will extend the life of your chain by 3 or 4x Its a little messy but works !

Just traded in the old GS on a black/grey KLR. This is my second KLR and I love it. The suspension is definitely firmer, almost too much so, but I'll see after I break it in more, only have 350 miles...

Well I just picked up a new KLR and traded in the GS. I must say the price was right and I love the improvements on the KLR. I have ridden an 08 and owned an 01. Very happy!

This tends to wear and short out on the frame.....just check from the ignition key on and you will see if its worn.

Only problem I have ever had after 90,000 kms was the wiring harness from the key to mux by the frame. Its too short and tends to wear and short out, take a look. Its a simple fix.

Did you check the wiring harness under the key ? It tends to wear out as the stock one is too short.....Try starting then turn handle bars, see what happens.
