And let's not forget it's an 800cc.. I toured europe and north africa on a 600. So i don't see the limit in touring range on the "smaller" GS.

at 31 inseam you can easily, and safely just plant one foot at stops. No need to flat foot.
I would spend the money on a lower and comfier sargent seat rather than messing with...

I owned both. I had 1 1100, 3 1150, and now a 1200 GS.
Great bikes and honestly a great deal of improvement with every upgrade.
The 1200 may be relying too much on software and electronics probably...
