I have an 06 with 45K miles and no issues with the brakes or anything else really. The centerstand on the 05 is significantly harder to deploy IMO. Save up your money and get some hi performance...

Not sure what grid you have, but I do not think they made a separate grid to fit the GS. I have a set of the GSA grid (bought used in the flea market) mounted on my 06 GS and if fits perfect.

Yes, mine has the flapper. I think Wunderlich makes something to disable it but have not really researched how it affects hp or noise. I believe the Remus system retains the flapper.

Orvis also makes a 7pc 5 wt called Frequent Flyer that will easily fit in your paniers. Mine is almost always in by GSA panniers. They make a spinning rod version too. Great little setup.

It's the 05 GS. They changed the center stand in 06 making it much easier to lift. Not sure if you can retrofit an 06 center stand to yours though.
