Oh yeah, takes alot of CCA; a strong battery to crank over that LC8 motor. If it hasn't been ridden in awhile, or its very cold, you may need to use a battery tender.

True, the last model year the SD's were shipped to the US were the 2008's. Very tough if not impossible to get new, almost all of them are factory demos or what you can find used. KTM NA website...
