Still not able to get TuneECU to connect to the bike so as an alternative I used a volt meter to check the throttle position sensor and found it to be .67V in the closed position.
Adjusted it down...

It was possible to force the header out as you have described.
It was completely impossible to reinstall without removing the rear sub-frame.

your results may vary

also
don't overlook the rear wheel alignment i.e. make sure it is on track with the front wheel
if it's out enough it...
