Well, its not the piggy-back that is saving you from a canbus fault warning, its the relay in the new horn. Whether you tap into the OEM horn or remove it entirely has no bearing on fault conditions.

No splicing at all, it's super easy. Takes you longer to run the wires and zip-ty them than to wire it. Yes, I did use their wiring kit. You won't have any issues hooking this up.

Don't use sandpaper, use steel wool and rub it in with a metal polish. You can clean them up some, but not even close to 100 % that way. Still, a much nicer patina than shit brown.
