I agree about the inner gasket on the valve cover. Easy fix. It's a great bike. Fix it and enjoy it.

Thanks so much for the help. Here is an update.

Ryota got the 1996 BMW R850R to the BMW Dealer in Omaha Nebraska. They found a bad starter.
A new starter is being overnighted from the BMW Dealer...
